Our history starts since 1997 when our group being a part of SPIRT (Saint-Petersburg Image Research Team), founded at the State Optical Institute, took part in doing CBIR (content-based image retrieval) project for Imation Corp. (USA). From 1998 till 2004 we have worked for the JASC Software Inc. (US, MN), specializing in creation of photo-editing software. We took an active and very productive part in developing of the last three versions of their software (JASC Paint Shop Pro 7,8,9). In 2004 - 2005 our group has worked for the Corel Corporation (Canada) making their photo-editing software Corel Paint Shop Pro X. We are co-authors of various US patents and US patent applications in image processing and enhancement area. Since 2006 our group has launched our own independent project under âАШImageSkillâАЩ trademark. The first our project concerning mobile image defocusing was done for Saint-Petersburg department of LG Electronics. The mainstream of Image Skill research now is: automatic image enhancement, noise removal, chromatic aberration correction, geometric distortion correction, scratch removal, image warping, uneven illumination correction, tone mapping, gamut mapping, red eye removal, background erasing, moirÃ© removal, pattern and texture generation, automatic image feature detection, special effects, content-based image retrieval, image color change, and many other applications.
